The 6th Continent – Antarctica

If someone had told me that the Weltreisebär would make it to Antarctica before Australia, I wouldn't have believed them. The "Mosis" bagged the second icy territory of this earth not even six months after Greenland.
That means Australia+Oceania is now the last of the 7 continents still missing.

But first, here are the two stopovers along the way:

I actually thought an empty photo wouldn't happen again (the only one so far being country no. #60). But the stopover in Sal (Cape Verde) came a bit too unexpectedly. Sadly, the Weltreisebär's travel companions (the Moser family from Augustusburg) weren't allowed to leave the plane. Still, I decided to count the country anyway-
That's why on Instagram you'll also find the "proof of route" from the flight display.
If you ever find yourself on a short stopover, the best move is to take a GPS proof photo, just like I did for country no. #35 (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Though that does require two devices.

Fun fact: Cape Verde was home to Portugal's first railway line (back when it was still under colonial rule).

The first "proper" stop on the big journey south was Argentina (Ushuaia). The city and Punta Arenas (Chile) are locked in a rivalry over the title of the world's southernmost city.
Did you know? – Ushuaia has put in a bid for the 2030 Olympic Games. (Though I'd much rather see Saxony&Thuringia's bid come true, so we can finally bring the Games back home!)
By the way, the Winter Games have never once been held in the southern hemisphere.
